Freeze-Dried Dog Treats: Why the Cut Matters More Than the Animal

Most pet treat brands put "kangaroo" on the label and leave it at that.
We never thought that was good enough.
A kangaroo has many different parts. Rump is not the same as trim. Fillet is not the same as mixed meat. The cut determines the protein level, the fat content, and ultimately what your pet is actually eating every single day.
So when we started Gogo Treats, we made a decision. Every product would use one animal, one specific cut, nothing else.

Our kangaroo treats use rump only.
Our Hoki treats use fillet only. Our Angus beef uses tenderloin chunks. Our barramundi uses fillet. Same goes for every product in our range.
This is the same standard applied to human food. When you buy a rump steak at the butcher, you know exactly what you are getting. We think your pet deserves the same clarity.
There is another reason we choose rump specifically. It is naturally lower in fat, and this matters more than most people realise.
Freeze-drying concentrates everything in the ingredient, including fat. A high-fat cut that looks fine fresh can become too rich once freeze-dried, which is hard on digestion and shortens shelf life. We choose lower-fat cuts across our entire range for this reason. Kangaroo rump, Hoki fillet, chicken breast, all naturally lean. The result is a treat that is easier to digest, better for long-term health, and stays fresh longer without any preservatives needed.
It also means consistency. When the cut is always the same, the nutrition profile is always the same. No guessing, no variation batch to batch.
We are not the cheapest option on the market and we know that. Using primary cuts costs more than using trim or mixed offcuts. But it is the only way we know how to do this properly.
Our facility in Springvale holds HACCP certification, PrimeSafe approval, SGS audit, and DAFF Est. 3596 export approval. These are not things we put on a brochure to look good. They are the baseline we hold ourselves to because the alternative is cutting corners we are not willing to cut.
Gogo Treats started because our Labrador Gogo and our cat deserved better than what was available. That has not changed. Every product we make, we make with that in mind.
If you want to know exactly what cut is in any of our products, just ask. We are always happy to talk about it.
